GUILD
GUILD OPERATIONS
The Tampere Architecture Guild is the student organization for architecture students in Tampere. The guild brings architecture students together, promotes and develops the study of architecture at Tampere University, and preserves the traditions of architecture students.
BOARD AND COUNCIL ACTIVITIES
The guild board is responsible for the guild’s activities each year. It manages the operations, finances, and assets of the guild, prepares the matters to be discussed in meetings, and implements the decisions that are made. The board prepares the key documents presented to the general meetings: the annual report and financial statement for the previous term, as well as the action plan and budget for the upcoming term.
The council consists of the board and additional officers appointed by the board. Officers are selected for a variety of roles, for example managing the guild’s communications, organizing events, and coordinating cooperation with companies and professional unions.
MEETINGS
The highest decision-making body of the guild is the general meeting, which is held at least twice a year. At the spring meeting, the annual report and financial statement of the previous year are reviewed and the board is granted discharge from liability. At the autumn meeting, the action plan and budget for the next term are approved and a new board and auditors are elected.
At general meetings, all members can also submit motions or statements of intent to the board, which are then voted on.
Board meetings are held approximately weekly during the academic year. The chair prepares the agenda and leads the meeting, while the secretary is responsible for the minutes. At the Tampere Architecture Guild, these meetings are called council meetings, as both the board and the council participate. During these meetings, invoices are approved, events are planned, and matters related to studies are discussed.
GUILD COFFEE MEETINGS
Guild Coffee Meetings are informal coffee gatherings held in the guild room between students and the department staff. Usually the guild chair and the educational affairs officer are present, but anyone interested in educational policy matters is welcome to attend.
POSITIONS
The guild elects the chairperson from among the candidates who have put themselves forward at the guild’s autumn general meeting. The elected chairperson proposes the composition of the board to the guild, and the guild then approves or rejects the proposed board. The board appoints the officers for the upcoming term. Together, the board and the officers form the council.
